Expert Witness Services
Attorneys need qualified expert witnesses to help explain their cases to judges and juries. MPM Consulting provides retired FBI Agents and former police detectives as expert witnesses for civil and criminal matters.
What is Expert Witness Testimony?
Expert witness testimony is specialized testimony provided by individuals with the knowledge, skill, education, experience, and training to help lawyers explain technical or complex matters to a judge or jury. In financial cases, expert witnesses translate forensic accounting findings, investigative conclusions, and evidentiary analysis into clear, persuasive courtroom presentations.
The credibility of an expert witness can determine the outcome of a case. Judges and juries rely on expert testimony to understand issues that fall outside common knowledge — from the mechanics of a fraud scheme to the significance of a chain-of-custody protocol for physical evidence.
Effective expert witnesses combine deep subject matter expertise with the ability to communicate clearly under cross-examination. Their testimony must be grounded in established methodology and supported by the evidence they’ve analyzed.
When You Need an Expert Witness
Expert witnesses are essential when your case involves complex financial transactions that need professional interpretation, allegations of fraud or financial misconduct requiring forensic analysis, disputed evidence collection or chain-of-custody issues, or technical accounting concepts that a lay jury would struggle to evaluate independently.
Whether you’re prosecuting a white collar crime, defending against allegations of financial misconduct, or litigating a civil dispute over damages, a qualified expert witness provides the analytical foundation and courtroom credibility your case requires.
MPM’s Approach
Mike McCall has testified numerous times in both civil and criminal proceedings regarding white collar investigations, drawing on his experience in the private sector as well as his tenure with IRS-CID, the Resolution Trust Corporation, and the FBI. His testimony has addressed forensic accounting findings, investigative methodology, and evidence handling.
Mike brings a unique combination of expertise from his time on the FBI Evidence Response Team in Boston, where he served as Senior Team Leader. This experience gives him firsthand understanding of proper evidence collection, chain-of-custody protocols, and the preservation of exhibits — issues that frequently arise in litigation.
In one recent federal court proceeding, Mike testified about evidence that had been collected seven years prior to the date of his testimony — positively identifying and explaining exhibits seized years earlier. MPM Consulting’s expert witnesses are based in Massachusetts and available nationwide.
