What is Person Location?

Person location — also known as skip tracing — is the investigative process of finding individuals who have moved, gone into hiding, or otherwise become unreachable. A “skip” is someone who has left without a trace, whether they’ve absconded with money, evaded legal obligations, or simply disappeared from contact.

Professional person location goes far beyond simple database searches. It involves collecting and analyzing financial records, employment history, phone records, social connections, and public records to develop a probable location. Each piece of information is verified before being acted upon, because pursuing false leads wastes time and resources.

Person location services are used in legal proceedings requiring witness testimony, debt recovery where the debtor has fled, missing persons cases involving family members, and investigations where key individuals need to be interviewed.

When You Need to Find Someone

You may need professional person location services when someone has stolen money and disappeared, when a key witness or party to a lawsuit cannot be found for service of process, when a family member is missing and traditional efforts to locate them have failed, or when you need to locate an individual for an inheritance, insurance claim, or other legitimate purpose.

Time is often critical in person location cases. The longer someone has been missing, the more difficult — and expensive — the search becomes. Engaging qualified investigators early dramatically improves the likelihood of a successful outcome.

MPM’s Approach

MPM Consulting brings FBI-level investigative resources to every person location case. Our team accesses court files, property and motor vehicle records, proprietary electronic databases, and other investigative tools to systematically narrow the search area and identify probable locations.

Former FBI Special Agent Mike McCall has personally located or identified the location of four missing persons from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) database. Mike was able to bring peace of mind and closure to families who had missing loved ones — demonstrating the depth of investigative skill MPM brings to every case.

Throughout the data collection process, we verify everything before deciding what to do next. Chasing false leads wastes time and gives an inaccurate picture of someone’s location. At MPM Consulting, we combine methodical investigation with the experience and resources to find people who are missing for all types of reasons — often quickly and cost-effectively.
